My New Year's Resolutions 2015

It has been a tradition in the beginning of the year to make a promise to do an act of self-improvement. I have listed ten promises which I hope I could keep until the last day of 2015!

I'd like to share it to you guys so when you see that I'm going against what's listed, kindly let me know.

1. Keep your promises no matter what

Most of the time when we cannot say no to something or someone we say "yes" even if we really do not mean it. I placed this on top so that I'll be reminded that I did say yes to the new year's resolutions listed here. And yes, I should to keep these promises!

2. Be happy and love thyself

People say you cannot give what you do not have.

I'm a single mom. And you know, mothers are best at sacrificing things for the benefit of their child. I was like this before. But sometimes you feel tired of giving up everything for others even if that's your own beloved child. So I think everything should start from you.

When you learn to be happy and you love yourself then other people will do the same.

3. Jot down notes

I'm not sure if am just careless or I'm really forgetful. So I promise myself that if there's anything I neet to do or something important, I write it down immediately before I forget it.

4. No procrastination

Yay! This is one of my favorite. Procrastination means delaying something that needs to be done because you do not want to do it or you are lazy, etc.

This is one thing that my mom keeps on reminding me about. Why do it tomorrow if you can do it today?

5. No Complaining

When things get tough and we cannot handle the situation, most of the time we start complaining.  We keep on complaining or start blaming other people for what’s happening in our lives. Making them responsible for whatever challenge we are going through. But come to think of it. Whatever is happening to you, you attracted it into your life.

If you were able to read the famous book The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, you will understand how you attract things in your life. You attract bad and good things. And I’ve learned one secret. That is to stop complaining.  Because when you complain, you push away good and positive things and in return you attract more of the bad and negative things.

So instead of complaining when things get tough, just find good things in that situation. Divert your attention to what is good instead of what’s not
.
6.  Embrace Change

“Progress is impossible without CHANGE, and those who cannot CHANGE their MINDS cannot CHANGE ANYTHING.” –George Bernard Shaw

Well, you read it right! No change, no progress. Learn to accept the fact that the only thing that is constant is change. Everything changes. Not all the time you can control things. Most of the time things turn out differently the way you planned it to be. All you have to do is accept it. It is always difficult in the beginning but once you get the hang of it, it will be much easier.

7. Welcome New Opportunities

When we plan our life we want it to be the best. Yet sometimes it does not happen the way we want it to be. Maybe you’re praying that the Lord will give you one thing that can change your life. Opportunity comes just once in a lifetime. Do not be afraid to try.  In the end we only regret the chances we did not take.

8. Continue Learning

This year I’m making a promise to read at least one book each month. That means a minimum of 12 books in one year, of course the books I used at school does not count! This will help me aligned with my goals.

At the moment, I finished two books (both about business) and almost finished with one inspirational book. I’m hoping to keep the momentum and read at least two or three books a month. And if you have some recommendations about books worth reading, comment below please! I might run out of books to read! J

9. Be Patient

It’s one of the toughest. People close to me knows that I am the most impatient person.  It makes me react immediately to things and events. I heard this technique in one of the TV shows teaching anger management. That is once your upset and you’re at the peak of your emotions, count from 100 backwards. That way you will be able to divert your anger. You will be more focused into counting backwards than immediately reacting into a negative situation.

10. Start Saving

I realized this when a friend of mine introduced me into a good business. That time I wanted to do it but guess what, I don’t have any capital! Many of us do not have any single peso saved in the bank or even in the piggy bank. How old are you today? There’s 365 days in one year. Is it that hard to save at least Php 1.00 a day? Can you imagine if you saved Php 20.00 a day in one year it could have been Php 7,300 by the end of the year? Start saving today no matter how big or small. What’s important is that you do it every day. Just be consistent.

How about you? What’s your new year’s resolution? Feel free to comment below!
